Misogyny in Music - Iota Aurigae - Jun 2 2025 My (now second) newest post on Rainy Season: https://rainyseason.substack.com/p/misogyny-in-music Just a warning that the post discusses themes of sexualization, and if you know anything about how women are sexualized in music, especially hip hop... please sit this one out if you're a kid. RE: Misogyny in Music - Newt - Jun 5 2025 I hear older songs sometimes that I haven't heard since they came came out when I was very young. I frequently think "oh they were talking about sex." There’s no way to NOT KNOW that for way too many songs. I just don't think it is too big of an ask to bring back lyrics with fun double entendres. I am disappointed in how normal it is for even mainstream female artists to have graphic descriptions of sex acts when they know the age of their listeners. I am sure they are heavily 'co-written' by others and pressured to be as sexual as possible or whatever. I honestly don't think children should be exposed to it. Can no one write euphemisms or a double entendre anymore? |
