It's brainwashing and social contagion all the way down, just like the hyperprogressive TQ+ movement has been. Rapid onset gender dysphoria will probably start to be replaced by rapid onset Handmaid's Tale dysphoria. Whatever seems cool and of-the-moment, the masses will follow. But here are some key points to pay attention to, regarding last year's elections and Democrats:

Quote:“Their values just fell off with the younger generation. They didn’t talk about economics. They didn’t talk about the things that really resonated with us,” she said. “I’m growing up in a world where my parents were able to afford a house. They graduated college, they can go get an apartment. For me, it’s like I’m looking at the future and I’m like, oh my God, there’s just no way I’m ever going to afford a house, or even gas is way too expensive.”

Schwartz said that in a focus group in Michigan last year, he noticed that not a single person put reproductive rights as their top priority. One young woman, he said, had told him that while abortion access mattered to her, she could think only about issues such as that once she had a roof over her head and enough money to survive.

The current administration isn't going to fix those "how do I survive?" problems and many of us knew that. Prices aren't lower. Cost of living isn't better. This will not improve under the current administration. But many voters didn't understand this, and they weren't paying enough attention to politics to know they were being lied to. If you're drowning and one party makes blustery claims about the life raft they're going to send you, you're probably going to listen to them and hope for that life raft.

At the heart of it, these women want stability and security, basic things all humans want. Republicans promised that, although meaningful follow-through is unlikely for women who don't want to do the Stepford MAGA thing. It's up to Democrats to figure out how to provide that stability and security through their policies, communicate this strongly and consistently enough to win elections, and follow through.
