Quote:But the most significant drop in contraceptive services likely comes from the closure of abortion clinics in states with the most restrictive abortion policies. That’s because such clinics generally provide a wide range of reproductive services, including contraception. The 12 states with near-total abortion bans had 57 abortion clinics in 2020, all of which were closed as of March 2024. One study reported a 4.1% decline in oral contraceptives dispensed in those states.

Not mentioned but I think it's worth mentioning here: People love to go after Planned Parenthood because of the gender-affirming care it provides, but if you get rid of Planned Parenthood, you don't just get rid of the gender-affirming care. You lose reproductive health care and contraception. Get people's support on the "abolish gender medicine" stuff, and they'll hold the door open for the government to ramrod through and destroy rights and access to birth control and abortion. When the end result is fewer doctors practicing any reproductive care, that's just too bad, so sad and nothing will be done to fix that except to complain about people not having enough babies.
