Manbabies of Reddit Hall of Fame - Clover - Jul 2 2025

Alternative title: "Girl, the fuck? Dump his ass."

I have been continually shocked at the amount of r/AmIOverreacting subreddit posts I see on r/popular that are women sharing stories or screenshots of their manchild partners throwing mantrums or being downright abusive. Like, I really hope they are fake stories made as ragebait, but I'm just going to be collecting them in this thread anyway.

To start: https://reddit.com/r/AmIOverreacting/comments/1lq03z2/aio_for_thinking_my_husband_is_a_dick/

dontevercallmebabe My husband berated me this morning for over 20 minutes bc I burnt some pancakes while I was cooking and feeding our baby at the same time. I acknowledged I burnt them a bit but he says they are “burnt to a crisp” and “black”. He went on and on until I started crying and threw them away.
I took these out of the trash to take a photo. Am I crazy? Or is he making a big deal out of a small mistake? Would you eat these?

The fuck? To make this situation stupider, the pancakes pictured look totally normal, but that is besides the point. Dump his ass.

He could've made his own pancakes instead of being lazy and useless, why is she cooking breakfast while also feeding the baby?

Since there's a baby involved I'm guessing this is one of those men who throw tantrums because now they have to share their wife's attention with a newborn and they can't handle it like an actual adult.

r/AmIOverreacting is only the tip of the iceberg, there's a bunch of subs filled with stories like this. Sometimes it'll even be the man posting without any sort of self-awareness.

If you're taking submissions, one of the worst I ever saw was a post in one of the relationship subs. This guy destroyed his girlfriend's entire plant collection (including plants inherited from family) and came to reddit begging for help to salvage the situation. He did get dumped, fortunately.

I think AmIOverreacting, AmITheAsshole, etc. are mostly deliberate rage bait and karma farming these days. Unfortunately, there's more than a grain of truth even if the story is fake. The stories might or might not be true but they're completely believable because we know that kind of stuff actually happens.

Woman still coming out of anesthesia. Is confused. Shitbag husband decided it would be "funny" to convince her she kidnapped and wants to sell the children in the back of the car, who she currently does not recognize as her children due to anesthesia drugs. Male partner continues egging her on to ask which kid would get the most money when sold. Young elementary-school-aged daughter looks visibly distraught and on the verge of tears because her mom legitimately doesn't recognize her and there are talks of selling her. Father does nothing to console her or explain what is going on, just laughs and thinks the whole thing is funny and continues playing along. Oh, and he's driving while recording himself mentally messing with his wife and children.

Some of those women would rather be dead than single. They would rather stay with a man who hates them and degrades them just to say "I have a man". There's a flex in having a husband for a lot of women. Being unmarried is like being a third class citizen in some areas in the USA.

Not to detract from the actions of the husband, but I'm baffled the hospital let her leave like that (with only a manchild to look after her, no less). Is that normal in the US? Last time I was under general anaesthesia they were super cautious and I didn't even have any side effects.

Yeah in USA they kinda just let you go with someone who is able to drive you home (at least for like, dental procedures). When I had anaesthesia for my impacted wisdom teeth removal, my partner and I walked like a five minute walk to the oral surgeon from our apartment. When I was done and loopy, they told us I can't even do the five minute walk back and they made my partner go back to get our car to drive me home while they wheeled me down to the parking garage in a wheelchair for safety lol. So yeah, I actually am more surprised to learn from this thread that other countries ensure patients are lucid from anesthesia before sending them home. I assume it has to do with USA's shit-tier for-profit healthcare system — more time with the medical providers can rack up costs for the patient (and cost more for the clinic to have staff monitor the patient until they're lucid) and so I guess they'd rather just send the patient back home with a trusted person while they're loopy.
