When women make apps to privately talk about men, they warn each other about abuse and cheating and so on. When make apps to privately talk about women, they share nudes, which the men in that Twitter thread are gagging to be able to do in retaliation.

In this particular case the "women only" app was created and owned by a man, Sean Cook.

I'm still wondering if that app might have been deliberately designed to collect and expose women's identities.
Whether it was or wasn't, whisper networks are better off as whisper networks and not as apps.

My mistake! Still, a female userbase, and I haven't seen anything suggesting that it was used for stalking or spreading nudes the way male alternatives have.
