Iran’s top execution priorities tend to be those convicted of spying for Israel, especially around Iranian nuclear activity. Women protesting mandatory hijab have been increasingly left alone since they came out hijab less rooting for the ayatollah over Netanyahu. So it’s not about that. If she were a midwife who sold abortion cures, otoh, that would definitely make the authorities upset.

I don't support the death penalty. A country that just recently and begrudgingly backpedaled on their misogynistic hijab laws doesn't earn my trust. This other article from PBS News states that “activists warn Iran often relies on coerced confessions and closed-door trials in its death penalty cases, particularly those involving Israel.”
I don't care the reason why this woman is being sentenced to death, it is wrong.

I have lived in that general area (Not Iran) and was born there. They know that executing a woman for not wearing a Hijab might create uproar, after the last time.
But they're still hardcore extremists. They can't stand it. So what they do?

I decided to search the site for "Israel" and "Gaza", Israel is mentioned twice, once about the Nordic Model and once in this article saying she was arrested after the war. Gaza is never mentioned. If we just went off the forum rules verbatim, Polly would be the only one technically/literally in the "wrong." But, since I don't like rigidly enforced "rule-lawyer robot modding"...
The issue I see here is a long-standing trend of one user periodically derailing threads with low effort comments that annoy other users, commonly ending up with various users getting frustrated and upset by the derailment and, often times, dismissive nature of the topic being discussed in the thread. I find this somewhat similar to the spiral of unfruitful discussions on Vexxed/Ovarit I've observed, where shitposting regulars can continuously post a dripfeed of ragebait that causes other users to "lose their shit", and then the "other users" are the ones who get in trouble. I'm not interested in encouraging that spiral of trashposting culture.
@WrongToy: this isn't the first time you've derailed threads on the forum, often by minimizing some forms of misogyny. Truthfully, I don't think your initial post in this thread was your "worst" offending post in regards to potential derailing, but I think this is now "2 for 2" on you responding to "calls for actions" on trying to help female people in some way by dismissing/derailing the call to action. The first one was regarding poo-pooing women's efforts to teach English and career skills to women in Afghanistan, where mod action was taken to split your derailing comments into a different thread.
In addition to this, I recall instances of taking criticism of beauty culture and internalized misogyny personally and various slights against women who criticize countries that enforce misogynistic hijab laws and minimizing said misogyny, or slights against Western women volunteering in education programs for Afghani women. [1: "I’m done with their orientalist perspective on how the only thing that matters is the headgear Muslim women wear. Which is always anti feminist according to them.", 2: "But no, this is all about SCARF liberation.", 3: further later comments in that thread continuing to put misogynistic hijab laws vs. Palestinian humanitarian aide crisis in an artificial dichotomy, 4: "The cute little flyers contests urging white western women to mentor teenage girls in English is atrociously dangerous to said girls.", 5: Whatever this comment was, encouragement of reenacting a Handmaid's Tale in Afghanistan..?, 6: more... encouragement of reenacting a Handmaid's Tale in Afghanistan..?] Which you have since done again in this thread with your later comments with LeftFem, seemingly minimizing the fact this Iranian woman is on death row because... Israeli spies, Israel bad, Zionists...? You don't need to shoehorn these topics into every single thread.
TL;DR - Right now, in my mod perspective, you are on thin ice. Not because of just this thread, but because of the overall behaviors listed above; derailing threads and minimizing/dismissing feminist issues that other members find important in favor of prioritizing your own. Continuing the aforementioned behaviors shall result in membership revocation.

@everyone: I will say I generally don't want to encourage a culture of insults/personal attacks/etc. on this forum, but... eh. I don't have all the answers. I'm a biased human being; I don't know how to mod "perfectly," if such a thing even exists. I'm aware of that when making this call. As of this moment, I'm more in favor of calling out derailing content/demoralizing behaviors over "rule-lawyering" about civility. That being said, for any member reading, please don't use this judgment call as an endorsement to break civility rules to bludgeon people in the future, please still attempt to use good faith, especially if the member is new and does not have a comment history where you have had to continually repeat to yourself "assume good faith, assume good faith" before engaging. I would still prefer we try to handle these situations diplomatically. Admittedly, I don't know the best way to do that right now.
Forum rules enforcement is essentially vibes-based in favor of whatever promotes constructive discourse and helps increase fruitful engagement.
