Intersectionality - when discussing feminism intersectionality means recognizing there are multiple axes of oppression. Sex is the primary basis of oppression in feminist discourse. This can be amplified and complicated by race, ethnicity, class, sexual orientation, economic status and disability. It does not mean including all people in feminism. Feminism is for female people.
Inclusivity - This is not an inclusive sub. It is a sub for women who are 4B, are considering becoming 4B or who want to learn about 4B. It is not a debate sub about the merits of 4B. It is not a club where you will be kicked out if you aren't a "Gold Star" 4B woman. Many of us are adults who have lived for many decades long before this movement existed. You may have been married or had children but are now 4B. Those of us who have been there and done that have a lot of wisdom to impart to younger women and disrespect and hostility to those women will not be tolerated.
Radical Feminism - The 4B movement stems from radical feminism and is a form of separatism. Radical feminism is NOT the same as modern feminism as you may know it today. It's not about choice, it's about liberating women from the patriarchy. I will not write an essay about it here but if you want to learn more reading Andrea Dworkin or Sheila Jeffries is a good place to start. Anything that is harmful to women, such as prostitution, pornography, gender stereotypes etc. is not in line with radical feminism. After learning more you may find radical feminism and 4B it's not for you and that's OK, but you cannot be 4B and a liberal/third wave/choice feminist. They are diametrically opposed from an ideological perspective.
What Does it Mean to be 4B? - It means no dating, marriage, childbirth or sex with men. Yes, you can be 4B now even if you haven't been 4B in the past. Very few women have been 4B since birth. You are welcome here if you have been married, dated, had sex with a man or had a child in the past. You are welcome here if you are an ally or considering going 4B. The flairs are intended to clarify your status. Women who have been through these things have a lot of wisdom to impart and should be treated with dignity and respect. 4B is NOT a movement to punish men. It's intended to improve the lives of women by removing ourselves from harm and supporting each other.
What we are not - This is not a sub to complain about how shitty men are or how your Nigel is different. It's not a general topic sub to rant about the horrific state of dating and marriage.
What we are - This is a place to discuss the benefits of, experiences and reasons for going 4B, how we are navigating that and what that looks like in our lives.
Rule #2 is: Be respectful and supportive - If you cannot manage to conduct yourself in this manner and are looking for a throw down this isn't the place for you. We are looking for mature, considered, helpful and serious content. If that's not your vibe feel free to move on.
There has been a change up in the mod team and things may start to seem a bit different here. Take some time to consider if it's the place for you. We want the sub to be a helpful resource and supportive place for women who are 4B and also considering 4B.
