Yeah, no objection to this. You have to provide ID to buy cigarettes, alcohol, etc; this should be treated in the same way (not that women are products to be bought and sold, but accessing things for adults should require age verification).

Even though people can get around VPN, younger kids don't know how to do that, so that is a deterrent.

All states need to do this! There's not a single good argument for letting kids have access to adult material.

I see VPNs get mentioned often as a loophole but I want to offer a more optimistic perspective.
The thing about VPNs is that they come with stipulations. All VPNs require at least some effort (even if it's very minimal), free ones are often unreliable and slow, and paid ones, obviously, require money. Men are horny but they can also be lazy, poor, and/or impatient. Of course I can't find the articles now when I need them but I remember reading about how Google lost a large percentage of people to other websites when they increased their search result time by something like a second or less. A similar thing happens when people have to click one extra button than is needed.
The new verification laws work to inconvenience men on both fronts. They either hand over an ID, hand over money for a reliable VPN, or get constant video interruptions with a free VPN (which is very amusing to think about). Even if it doesn't stop them from watching entirely it at least adds one more inconvenience to their daily life which adds up in the long run.

I'm pleased with this. Age verification to me seems like it should be the middle ground between harm reduction and freedom of speech.
