Mark Zuckerberg Is Wrong. [The Tech Industry] Doesn't Need More "Masculine Energy" - Clover - Jan 17 2025

Original title: As A Woman Who Worked In The Tech Industry For 15 Years: Mark Zuckerberg Is Wrong. It Doesn't Need More "Masculine Energy" (was too long for the post title)

Quote:This week on the Joe Rogan Experience, a gold chain-adorned Mark Zuckerberg said he felt the corporate world had become “culturally neutered” and that corporate culture had strayed too far from “masculine energy.” As a woman who spent 15 years working in the tech industry, I absolutely disagree.

During my career, as I walked past ping-pong tables and kegerators, shrugged off inappropriate jokes, got asked to take notes in meetings, and had my ideas dismissed, I never once felt a lack of masculine energy.

In fact, I was absolutely smothered by it.

Oh, NOW the nerds are the pinnacle of masculinity? Give me a fucking break.
This reminds me of how the same "rebellious" men fighting against "the System" stomping over the little guys, creating poverty, ruining lives for the greed of the 1% and destroying the planet suddenly change their tune to "Well surely men just happen to be the most qualified and the best at everything and they just do all of this better than any woman ever could and things would fall apart if these most qualified best individuals ever had to step down." All of a sudden we live in the most egalitarian meritocratic utopia the second it's time for men to answer for their antisocial behaviour.

Quote:That meant that we were well-known for being kind to — and constantly available for — anyone who needed our help. Above and beyond our actual work assignments, we constantly responded to messages from coworkers working through difficult technical issues or looking for advice. Our male teammates didn't have to take on the same responsibilities because they were often outright rude or dismissive to those asking for assistance, deterring people from reaching out again.

Yup. And the worst thing is, this is never appreciated. The men you helped won't speak up for you, nor for other women, nor against other men. They will not speak up against the toxic culture that screwed them over either - in their heads they struggled and then, through sheer power of their hard work and their "masculine energy", moved past it and now they deserve more money than you because their male brains are just built different.

Empathy and help from women is just further evidence that women are inferior. That's what all the "Just be kind" people refuse to acknowledge. Women are overwhelmingly kind and emphatic and helpful and it's never gotten them anywhere except guilt-tripped into foregoing their rights so as not to make the poor poor men feel bad 😥
