The new plan includes introducing new contraceptive pills, making menopause treatments cheaper, and increasing Medicare payments and bulk billing for IUDs and birth control implants. This will allow women to access care that was previously inaccessible.

Dr. Nisha Khot, vice-president of RANZCOG and clinical director of obstetrics and gynaecology at Peninsula Health, pointed out the new accessibility: "Obviously, if you're thinking about the cost of living crisis and wondering, 'Can I afford to put food on the table versus use my menopause medication?' guess what? You're going to prioritise putting food on the table … so this will be a huge, huge bonus."

Finance and Women's Minister Katy Gallagher said these changes will help millions of people but more needs to be done. The package simply does not include new abortion measures, as they are urging states to improve access on their own.
