Quote:4,047+ reports of sexual abuse in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS/Mormon)

The Mormon church has not published a list of leaders or volunteers convicted of sex crimes. FLOODLIT has found:
Holy hell.

Mormon church headquarters literally has an entire law office building--Kirton McConkie--across the street from them in downtown Salt Lake. And yes, they do work closely together.

More and more, a lot of lawyers and businessmen are being "called" (aka promoted) to the upper echelons of church leadership. The next man in line to be the prophet was a lawyer.

The Mormon church got a lot of negative press a couple of years ago for not requiring clergy to report abuse. They had them call a "church hotline" instead which connected right to the law office and clergy were told not to report under "clergy-penitent privilege" (which actually did not apply in a lot of cases because they found out from victims, not "penitents").
