I didn’t want to because: Sherd_nerd_17 Augh. I teach college, and *just yesterday* one of my female students shared that her boyfriend put AirTags on her car (she dumped him, hallelujah). It may be happening, at least a little - I think FDS is doing the lord's work here. And our next book club book is Hags - will be interested to hear how the younger women process it. I hope you and your bookclub enjoy Hags! I started reading it, I got through chapter 1, and I think it already does a good job to kind of demonstrate why society (men, really) attempt to make this massive gash between young women and old women, and it is precisely to prevent the transfer of old women's knowledge to young women. Older women know that the reason the 30 year old man is going after an 18 year old girl isn't because "she's so mature for her age" it's because that man is a fucking predatory loser. But the young woman will never know that because what is she taught by such men? "Don't listen to those ugly old hags." RE: “Every woman should watch the Gabby Petito docuseries on Netflix, and encourage ot... - Wandering_Feminist56 - Mar 23 2025 I haven't watched it (yet), I'll give it a watch though I'm not sure if the heavy subject is right for me at this moment. A lot of men don't have a void; they ARE a void. I think the internet is slowly helping some young women see truth, though I think they need firsthand experience to truly realize that yes, it's true, most men absolutely suck. You see something that seems human and talks human and has a human face, so you expect him to have human feelings, which is where it falls flat. Denial and projection will keep it afloat for a while if not outright abuse, control, and taking advantage of trauma and poor self-esteem, but the void can't be hidden forever, and then some see that those ''old'' women were right. I still have to read Hags! Good reminder. It's also not just in personal relationships that men's shit shines. It's reading about things like the Pelicot case and so many others like it where 100% of men are absolutely psychopathically horrible, it's reading about male statistics, it's simply reading comment sections showing just exactly what and how they think. It's hearing your female friends' and family members' stories where it becomes a familiar and predictable pattern. Personally, (30s now) I never thought that older women's stories were rubbish; I simply didn't hear them. One of my biggest wake-up calls about men though was a Redit thread once where ugly women shared their stories and experiences of men's treatment of them, as opposed to how they treat attractive women. Things like that can really open your eyes. It's not the same with older women as that isn't necessarily about attractiveness, but merely that blunt honest descriptions of their behaviour and motivations can really make one wake up. ''I think we as women really need to spread awareness amongst ourselves that there is a type of man out there who is so insecure they will make it their life’s mission to tear a woman down in every big and small way.'' A VERY common type, and a bunch of other types that're equally or even more shitty and dangerous. RE: “Every woman should watch the Gabby Petito docuseries on Netflix, and encourage ot... - Myrth - Mar 25 2025 I don’t have a Netflix account. This film may make it worthwhile to subscribe briefly. But I don’t know if I can watch it. Just watching the cop cams of the stop they did prior to her death was traumatic. It was so obvious to almost every woman watching, even before her body was found, that she was in a violent relationship. I think most of us who watched that knew she would never be found alive. It made me physically sick. |
