The girl was reported missing by her family in the semi-autonomous region of Puntland last September.
Months later, it emerged the girl's father had consented for her to be married to an adult named Sheikh Mahmoud.
Security forces surrounded the man's house last week and forced their way in after he locked himself in a room with the girl.

I'll never understand how any culture, any individual, can think this is okay. To marry (rape) a child, or to sell her off to someone who wants to marry (rape) her.

Everyone wants to blame the religion or the traditions but the religion and customs only reflect the intent of the powerful. This is what men want, all over the globe at any time in history. Allow them access to you and your daughters at your peril.
