Quote:Southall Black Sisters (SBS) has unequivocally condemned the actions of both Hamas and the Israeli state. Yet when SBS’s Chair called on women at the FiLiA conference to stand against the genocide in Gaza, she was heckled and accused of anti-semitism. Very few women, mainly minoritised women, stood with her in solidarity with the Palestinian people.  While she was being trolled on social media by women who were at the conference, FiLiA trustees asked our Chair to make a public statement distancing FiLiA from her call for solidarity with Palestine. It was a shocking denial of responsibility and a refusal to confront those responsible for the harm on the part of FiLiA.

Not even going to bother posting this at Vexxed. The genocide apologists will downvote it into oblivion. You can digitally sign this to show your support.

Quote:Southall Black Sisters (SBS) has unequivocally condemned the actions of both Hamas and the Israeli state.

The statement: SBS follow up statement on Israel/Palestine is thoughtful and straightforward. It confuses me how fast Israel supporters jump to "if you don't support Israel, you must support Hamas!" Like... no..?? Like, there's no room for nuance. It's bizarre (but intentional if one wants to stifle discussion by throwing out artificial dichotomies).

I'm also baffled at how often this seems to happen; claims of "anti-Semitism" get doled out so fast it's like some sort of magic word they hope will make people simply stop criticizing the destruction of Palestinian land and slaughter of Palestinian civilians.

Also this reminds me about Noray's thoughtful Colonialism: The Elephant in the Room in Western Feminism article. (I've been wanting to share that article on CH since I had some thoughts on it. I'll make its own thread for it soon if no one else does.)
