Maybe it's an age/generation thing, but I'm still skeptical of "natural" methods, except for women who aren't especially concerned about pregnancy. I'm past the point of having to worry about it for myself, fortunately.
Yeah, I have to say I don't really like the term "natural contraception" as a descriptor for trying to track your cycle and time sex around that. I feel like it makes it sound way more effective than it actually is. Nothing about this process actually prevents pregnancy—if semen gets inside your uterus, you can get pregnant. It just makes it somewhat less likely that there's an egg waiting to be fertilized at that time. It's not like a condom, which is an actual physical barrier.
That being said, I completely understand why women don't want to use hormonal BC. That stuff wreaked havoc on both my body and mental.
I'm glad to see fewer women use the pill that wreaks havoc on your hormones, but if the alternative is playing lottery with "natural contraception"? For fuck's sake... And I can't even imagine being expected to have intercourse in countries that don't have legal abortion. It's bad enough that your clit gets no action, but being utterly screwed if you get pregnant? Fuck no!

Quote:But there's a little bit of a different risk-benefit analysis when it comes to men using a contraceptive. When women use a contraceptive, they're balancing the risks of the drug against the risks of getting pregnant. And pregnancy itself carries risks. But these are healthy men — they're not going to suffer any risks if they get somebody else pregnant.
