The National Organization for Women is so captured. Actual feminists have been outraged that Brock Turner got an extremely light sentence for rape. Actual feminists have also been outraged at men taking the podium (and sports scholarships) from women.

Actual feminists can walk and chew gum at the same time. NOW? Not so much.

Last I heard, outraged feminists (and others) were so effective in their outrage about Brock Turner that he's not even living under that name anymore? Clearly still insufficient punishment, but this OP needs to take that up with the judge who did the sentencing.

Whoever made the meme that NOW re-posted is clearly out of touch, as is Illinois NOW. The public outcry and backlash made Stanford ban Brock from campus. He moved home. He stopped using the name “Brock.” He got a job in a factory. He had been on the trajectory of going into medicine, and that was derailed. Meanwhile, the public outcry cost the sentencing judge his job. The outrage ran deep and is ongoing.

Feminists care deeply about justice for women. But in typical captured fashion, Illinois NOW is more concerned about the rights of men and tries to paint an ugly picture of feminists (its members and former members). I remember when NOW was the preeminent feminist organization. It’s sad what has become of it. Hopefully we can wrest it back from the transactivists.

Women really need a powerful organization in these dark times.
