I find that many pro-trans people, including many trans people themselves, will draw a line at neopronouns as this crazy trans-trendy thing that of course no-one reasonable would entertain because it's going too far and is too silly, unlike the very rational idea of magical sex changes based on the presence of gynecomastia or masectomies.

And don't get me wrong, both are bullshit...but neopronouns are at least consistent with the idea that gender is anything you want it to be. At its core is still denial in the form of the idea that your silly alter ego trumps the physical (and loaded) reality of your sex that you can't escape, but at least "oreogender" truly has nothing to do with one's sex, compared to "transwomen" who roleplay femininity solely because it's equated with and pushed onto women AND also invert their penises to make them resemble female genitalia, all the while insisting the two are completely different.

I find that most of the backlash against transtrenders coming from pro-trans people is rooted in the same sort of complacent conservativism where changing words like "mankind" or using singular "they" is stupid and silly for no reason other than it being different from the status quo, even if the terms being changed are inadequate or blatantly false. People don't like to modify their language because it reminds them of how reliant on societal norms they are, or at least on the idea that these norms are correct and above questioning, and a point of unity.

Additionally it's virtue signalling how "normal" you are. And this is especially important for a lot of trans people whose main goal in life is "passing" and not being singled out for gender nonconformity. Many trans people try to appeal to the wider narratives about ugly women basically not even being women (like with men complaining about feminazis ruining women and equating male fetishisation of femininity with being straight) or adequately feminine men being deemed "fuckable" in a "not gay" way because they're practically women.

Basically the teens who totally lost the plot and decided that third person pronouns signify fantastical wannabe internet alter egos make more sense to me than the people still holding on to third person pronouns being either male or female, but insisting it's got nothing to do with being actually male or female, or gatekeeping what level of delusion or drugs you need to count as the opposite sex, despite sex change being fundamentally impossible. It's the difference between sidestepping the issue and straight up lying about it. Also I do find gendered/sexed third person pronouns very unnecessary, unlike lying about what counts as female or male.

I refuse to debate two obvious facts: 1. the patriarchy exists 2. and that's a bad thing

You know how like kids have no filter and are naive and can often "clock" TIPs much "easier" than adults? When really it's not because they're "better" at clocking TIPs, it's just that they're not aware of the social niceties adults are doing by coddling TIPs gender woowoo?

These neopronouns are like the tween/teen version of that. They took the ridiculousness of trans and basically earnestly took it to 100. It's like kids playing on a playground for older kids who can no longer play on a playground, since they're not in elementary school anymore. "Oh you're a dragon who can breathe fire and fly? Well I'm a dragon that can become invisible and I have magic scales that are fireproof and I have three heads and and and..." They don't realize what they're doing, how they "insult" the mentally ill adults who expect to have their gender woowoo delusions coddled to or "taken seriously".

I'm Sleepycatgender btw and I'd prefer it if people respect that... :meowqueen:

Ok fine, calling myself 1337531f or sporkself is 100% something I would have tossed into a forum signature in 2005 because I would have found it funny.  :meowderp:
