I saw this posted on Ovarit and wanted to reshare here. The author is male, but is gender critical, and named many women and women's groups who should be read and listened to. He's very aware of the sexism in the free software movement, including the sexism of focusing women's issues solely on trans "women."

Quote:I would urge the maintainers of software projects and all Free Software enthusiasts to think critically about what kind of environment they want to foster. One in which only a narrow, arguably male-centric version of feminism is tolerated, and dissidents are aggressively hounded out? Or one in which people of all wakes of life, all worldviews, and all identities are equally welcome on the condition that they treat others with respect?

Thanks for sharing, I hadn't seen this. Going to send it to my friends in the OSS community.

TIMs speaking for and over women has, over the past 10-15 years, increasingly become a problem in very male-dominated fields like tech (and, say, gaming). The tiny silver lining is that some dude who started painting his nails last week saying he knows how hard it is to be a "woman in tech" is a really great way of peaking people...

For anyone interested, here's the conversation the OP had on GitHub regarding the code of conduct.

Thank you for the links, Elsacat and komorebi - interesting reading. Ehmke's "I’m female but I don’t ovulate or menstruate" is so frustrating - he's not content appropriating the word "woman", he has to claim "female" as well. There's literally no word we can use to describe ourselves. Typical man.
