(Jun 12 2025, 11:36 AM)nassim Agents provocateurs have always been a thing at protests and yes they are then used to justify police violence, but the claims from Trump, echoed by TERFs, are different. That the protests themselves are not organic but paid for.

"Every accusation is a confession."

I thought the same thing when Elon Musk said Trump's in the Epstein files. Point at Trump first, and maybe then try to claim "fake news manufactured for revenge" if he himself is in the Epstein files and Trump (or someone associated with him) points that out.

(Jun 12 2025, 10:50 AM)nassim I've seen some TERFs defend what's going on and/or vilify the protesters and paint them as paid agents. I knew some of these women leaned a bit law and order but I'm still pretty shocked tbh. It's like I'm seeing the TERFs' descent into fascism as well.

I think its less "terfs" and more "americans". We had a similar problem on Ovarit of americans who were waking up to gender criticism but otherwise still very much drowned in propaganda (e.g. pro-israel)

Its wild to see the takes some Americans have about their own people, when 100% of people outside america are on the side of the protesters. Im blaming the media. Frok the outside its easy to see its the cops that keep shooting forgein journalists, its never the protesters causing injuries.

June 12 2025: Kristi Noem, head of the Department of Homeland Security, says they are going to "liberate" Los Angeles from "the socialists" and the city's democratically elected leaders.

throwaway-plzbnice Kristi Noem, head of the Department of Homeland Security, seconds before Padilla was handcuffed:

"We are not going away. We are staying here to liberate the city from the socialists and the burdensome leadership that this governor and that this mayor have placed on this country and what they have tried to insert into the city."

I somewhat agree. And totally agree with Ovarit being drowned in hasbara and other racist bs, but it wasn't only Americans. There was one account for example that posted all the time and was extreme right-wing and the woman was a Brit. On the issue of the protests, it's Americans plus at least one Canadian (Meghan Murphy). The right wing bile re Palestine etc is also across the pond (but there is a north/south divide I think, feminists in the Global South tending to stand with the colonized). But I certainly agree with your general point that Americans are seeped in propaganda.

https://newrepublic.com/article/196817/trump-deportations-house-republicans-memo

Quote:The key point here is that to boost those numbers, Trump and Miller have to go after noncriminal migrants. There aren’t enough criminals around to pad the numbers, and targeting noncriminals is less resource-intensive. In other words, Miller is deliberately choosing to focus more resources on noncriminals—and thus away from dangerous criminals. Law enforcement insiders have leaked word of their anger over exactly this.

They know they're rounding up people who are no threat and they don't care. They know they're taking away labor that keeps a lot of American businesses going, and they don't care (and neither did the businesses until it affected them). I wouldn't be surprised if there has been no noticeable dent in gang activity, because the government does not appear to be targeting specifically criminals and gang members. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if leaders of major gangs have agreements with members of the current administration about who does or doesn't get rounded up and deported, maybe in return for cutting people in on some profits from said gang activity.
