News New Taliban Rule in Afghanistan: No Burqa, No Healthcare for Afghan Women
(Nov 22 2025, 1:22 PM)Clover Polly, while I can understand your frustrations with WrongToy from the prior thread, this comment kind of infringes upon forum rule 6: no bullying, and also is the start of a potential thread derailment away from misogynstic Afghani govnerment policies towards an unproductive meta conversation about trashing other forum members. Her comment could just as easily have been ignored rather than highlighted and her character mocked. (I wanted to say her comment is additionally "not wrong," although then thinking about it further, if it was "not wrong," then surely there wouldn't have been such a dramatic drop in female admissions to urgent care following the misogynistic niquab rule..? So, to be honest, a source would be appreciated on her part, because I only vaguely remember what she is talking about in regards to it being "worse" before.)
Anyways, let's please focus the discussion on this thread back onto the news article/misogynistic practices at hand.

(Nov 22 2025, 10:51 PM)Wrongtoy Polly, it is not like I approve of wearing niquab. However, it doesn’t matter what I think. The factual matter is that women wearing this costume is the only way they will be allowed to function in public to the very limited extent they are allowed to,

(Yesterday, 9:16 AM)Wrongtoy My problem is that issues of women’s rights in the Islamic world have consistently been used to fight wars for the usual unrelated reasons. Nothing is accomplished by such wars but worse conditions for women. And such wars start with such rhetoric.

(Yesterday, 9:50 AM)Wrongtoy Polly, consider the dilemma of MSF’s female doctors in Afghanistan. It takes a certain type of feminist to decide to put up with the talibans demands so said doctors can save women.
