Quote:The shooting in Atlanta, which killed a police officer, followed the spread of false information around Covid vaccines and animosity directed at the agency, public health workers say.

Quote:“The intersection of disinformation, conspiracy theories and political violence is getting scarier by the day,” said Dr. Celine Gounder, an infectious disease specialist at Bellevue Hospital Center. “I’m very worried about how this is now going beyond defunding of infectious diseases and public health to political violence against the people working in those fields,” she said.

Medical misinformation and conspiracy theories kill people, and not just from the medical misinfo itself.

I'm also disappointed at how many of the same people can both call out the misinformation and corruption around trans healthcare, and yet still believe antivax and other misinfo and conspiracies around COVID, vaccines, and almost any other aspect of healthcare.

I think that's probably more of a case of "broken clock being right twice a day" than in any actual critical thinking from them. The types who deride vaccines, COVID, modern healthcare, and medicalized transgenderism largely fall under the category of being skeptical about modern healthcare in general. So, being anti-medicalized transgenderism just supports more of their belief that modern medicine is corrupt and not meant to help the common people, and instead exists to further profits (I mean, this is definitely real in United States) and if we want to go to their extremes, some sort of "deep state conspiracy" or something.
