Trapping and punishing women for doing what they're supposed to
I was just thinking, especially in regards to how abortion is viewed, how society loves to push various patriarchal ideas to women like some kind of sleazy salesman, convincing them to date and marry men, to have sex with men, to get pregnant - it's going to be a real life romance novel and you're going to be so beloved and admired by everyone, and certainly you wouldn't want to grow old as an ugly hairy lesbian cat lady, would you?
And then when the women get hurt, the patriarchy pulls out some scummy contract and tells them to go fuck themselves because nyah-nyah, you have no rights if you decide to go through any of this! That's what you get for trying to find love with a man or go through 9 months of body horror for children! Oh look, the next victim - hello, would you like to have an adoring husband who will love you and support you in holy matrimony, or take part in the beautiful joy of creating new life? 🌺🌈✨
It's like everyone knows that this is a choice that has high rates of harm to women, which is precisely why they blame women so much when the man turns out to be an abuser, or sex turns into rape, or pregnancy becomes traumatic. She can't change her mind when it turns out to be against her health and well-being because...we say so! You chose this after all our false advertising, and now you can't back out because we'll intentionally keep you trapped!
It's not even the attitude that some people have where it's justified to scam people out of their money if they're being "greedy" or in some way not being the perfect victim, this is literally what women are supposed to do, according to patriarchal moral values. And when it turns out to not pan out, are told it's their fault, either for not making the fairy tale happen because they weren't pretty or obedient or servile enough, or for wanting out, because that's destroying the family, or the man's legacy, or frustrating the man because you're not putting out.
There's also an aspect to it with beauty standards as well - a woman needs to be beautiful and never age because old and unattractive women are disgusting, but when a woman reaches for the beauty industry, she's also punished because if she's too attractive, then she deserves to be sexually assaulted, but also if she's getting old or needs too much makeup to look "pretty" and starts getting too many plastic surgeries, well then she's a superficial bimbo who can't disappear quietly like the ugly or old woman she is.
