Using this thread to keep track of how much of Project 2025 is becoming a reality. Since some women decided we were "fear-mongering" about Project 2025.

soundsituation, 3 insightful - 2 fun - 14 days ago I predict that if Trump wins, the people fear-mongering about Project 2025 and a fascist dictatorship won't admit they were wrong. Whatever happens, I predict that we'll never hear from tuffterfies again.

So let's see how it goes. I'd love to be wrong!

1. Trump's FCC pick, Brendan Carr, wrote Project 2025's chapter on the agency.

Quote:"While styling himself as a free-speech champion, Carr refused to stand up when Trump threatened to take away the broadcast licenses of TV stations for daring to fact check him during the campaign," Free Press Action Co-CEO Craig Aaron said in a statement. "This alone should be disqualifying."

Free Press and Fight for the Future, an advocacy group focused on digital rights, both have cited concerns about net neutrality, a policy that ensures internet service providers treat all websites and online content equally. Net neutrality was overturned during the first Trump administration, but was restored during Biden's term.

"Trump's nomination of Brendan Carr, one of the co-authors of Project 2025, to head the FCC is more than just a reversal of popular policies like net neutrality," said Evan Greer, director of Fight for the Future, said in an email. "Carr has made clear he actually wants the FCC to get more involved in policing online speech."

2. Trump picks Dr. Oz to run Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services

dallasdude on reddit Dr Oz put out a Medicare plan in 2020.

His plan was three parts:

1. Eliminate traditional Medicare entirely -- no more guaranteed care, no more specialist visits.

2. A brand new 20% payroll tax for all wage earners

... which will pay for

3) Every single American to be enrolled in private "Medicare Advantage" plans -- you know, those garbage plans that are rife with abuse and outright fraud Office of Public Affairs | Cigna Group to Pay $172 Million to Resolve False Claims Act Allegations | United States Department of Justice

Their plan is to kill Medicare, take 20% out of your paychecks and stuff it all into the pockets of their rich friends.
PeepholeRodeo Replacing original Medicare with Medicare Advantage is part of Project 2025.

Update, Feb 14 2025: using this thread as a simpler way to catalog general fascist/authoritarian actions of the Trump administration.

3. Trump picks Russell Vought to head the White House's budget office.

Quote:Vought, who also led the White House Office of Management and Budget during Trump’s first administration, wrote a chapter of Project 2025 on transforming the executive office of the presidency and has embraced a strikingly aggressive set of legal theories for asserting presidential power.

Quote:Since 2021, Vought has outlined in greater depth his vision of “radical constitutionalism,” crafting plans for Trump to deploy the military in response to civil unrest and assert more control over the Justice Department.

First day of Trump's 2nd term :puke: and reproductiverights.gov is down.
News/discussion post here: https://clovenhooves.org/showthread.php?tid=559

Another news article from CBS about this happening: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/government-website-offering-reproductive-health-information-goes-offline/
Quote:Government website reproductiverights.gov appeared to be offline on the evening of President Donald Trump's inauguration.

The site, launched in 2022 by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as part of a public awareness campaign, contained information on access to abortion and reproductive health care and a Know-Your-Rights patient fact sheet.

"Reproductive health care, including access to birth control and safe and legal abortion care, is an essential part of your health and well-being," a statement on the website read. "While Roe v. Wade was overturned, abortion remains legal in many states, and other reproductive health care services remain protected by law."

The site affirmed that most employer-based health plans and private health insurance plans are required to cover certain prescription birth control methods under the Affordable Care Act, which Trump has made calls to repeal. It also displayed a list of other services covered by most insurance plans, including breast and cervical cancer screenings, prenatal care and HIV screenings.

The site reiterated that while abortion legality varies by state, Mifepristone, in a regimen with misoprostol — otherwise known as a medication abortion — has been approved by the FDA and is safe and effective when used correctly.

It was not clear exactly when the site went down but it had been active as recently as Jan. 15.

From TIME: Trump’s Early Actions Mirror Project 2025, the Blueprint He Once Dismissed

Quote:An analysis by TIME found that nearly two-thirds of the executive actions Trump has issued so far mirror or partially mirror proposals from the 900-page document, ranging from sweeping deregulation measures to aggressive immigration reform.

Quote:While many of Trump’s executive orders resemble Project 2025’s proposals, not all of them fully align with the document’s recommendations. Some executive actions, such as the push to declare an energy emergency and the attempt to challenge birthright citizenship, are not directly addressed in the blueprint, for example. But dozens of executive actions rolled out by the new administration reflect Project 2025's core objectives, particularly in areas like immigration reform, government restructuring, and deregulation.

Here's an example:
Quote:He signed an executive order to withdraw the U.S. from the World Health Organization, marking a return to the foreign policy positions that defined much of his first term. Project 2025 explicitly called for this action, describing the WHO as an ineffective and politically biased organization that undermines American sovereignty.

“[Trump's] Department of Justice announced it would now limit enforcement of the FACE Act (Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances), a law that was enacted in the 1990s to prohibit anti-abortion protesters from blocking entry to abortion clinics.”
