Discussion Study from 2009: "Men Leave: Separation And Divorce Far More Common When The Wife Is The Patient"
Quote:A woman is six times more likely to be separated or divorced soon after a diagnosis of cancer or multiple sclerosis than if a man in the relationship is the patient, according to a study that examined the role gender played in so-called "partner abandonment." The study also found that the longer the marriage the more likely it would remain intact.

I'd like to know whether there's a similar correlation between men transitioning and their wives (or long-time partners) going through serious illness or injury. Anything that requires men to put the focus on their wives makes so many of them short-circuit and find a way to get out of it or to get the attention back on themselves. "You can't be sick! You need to take care of ME, not the other way around!"
That's a really interesting idea. Completely anecdotal so not of much use, but I've seen a lot of trans widows saying that their husbands transitioned when they were pregnant. 😐 I'd wager there is a connection, since pregnancy is when women are uniquely vulnerable.
Yeah it's so incredibly common you won't be able to unsee it, much like brave and stunning feminine TIMs with careers in the army or STEM (also rich dudes - compare the amount of rich and influential TIM politicians and CEOs to TIFs lmao). Either the woman is pregnant or she has children that still demand a lot of attention. You never see women TIF-ing out when there's children to take care of.
