Gender Politics A Woman’s Place
Gender Politics A Woman’s Place
A Woman’s Place has ceased their activities now, as every legal fight they had set themselves has been won in the U.K., where they organised.
Not being persuaded that gender matters more than sex is a protected belief.
Women’s sex-based right are enshrined in law.
Children are no longer given puberty blocking drugs and opposite sex hormones by the National Health Service.
These victories can be directly traced to the courageous, evidence-based, legally astute, calm, persistent, feminist activism of A Woman’s Place.
Their site is a record of this activism, going back to 2017, which I think exemplary.
You will find it here: https://womansplaceuk.org
There’s also a great deal to interest feminist activists in the videos, records of public talks and panels: https://www.youtube.com/@womansplaceuk/videos
Holy shit, they've done incredible work. I'll be sad to see them go, but it's a sign of how far they've come, and that's a good thing. Goddesspeed.
They gathered in and organised an amazing aarray of female talent - I went to their evening events when they came to my town and the speakers were very impressive. I was disappointed that they platformed at least one TIM (in an event I wasn't at), but it's hard to be too critical when they accomplished so much. I think it is worth acknowledging though that part of their success was due to the cultural and social capital of the participants - a contrast with the women who participated in Let Women Speak, who typically didn't and don't have that kind of cultural and social capital.
