I had this happen to me with two books now. Both old books, Right-Wing Women from the 80s, when Roe v Wade was just decided, and Abortion Politics from the 90s, during a time when the right was arguing over what to do after Roe v Wade.

Right-Wing Women made me feel sick because she detailed all the horrific cases of women dying due to a time before RvW. And of course we are now back in that time.

Abortion Politics made me feel sad because it started with talking about the prospect of RvW being overturned. Well it did get overturned. Sigh. (And I didn't even start reading this one yet, that was just the front cover and I'm already sad...)

I think I just feel so depressed knowing how much knowledge has been out there, explaining why abortion is necessary, why abortion is healthcare, and yet millions of selfish misogynistic people decide to keep electing representatives that are anti-abortion. It just makes me feel sick and sad and full of despair. I hate this country. 😊

Yes. Same thing. Silly me, thinking the problem had been partially solved at the federal level. Clearly, anything that was ever done can be undone.

"but muh Constitutionnnnnn"

The Constitution ain't mean shit any more. No piece of paper, no precedents, no laws mean anything to those who don't intend to follow them. I've never been so aware that things like government, and our rights, are on the honor system. Absent honorable people in the right places of power, we have no rights.
