That's what I'm thinking as well. (not from US) I see it here where I live, too, and it's so immensely frustrating. This goes so far beyond ''my team not winning'', we're talking civil rights here, the ability for non-rich people to have a life, affordable housing, so much is at stake yet they cling to hugely unpopular standpoints to the point that people can't get themselves to vote left(ish) anymore, and then everything and everyone is to blame but themselves.

Aggressively clinging to certain viewpoints to the point of self-destruction and losing elections time and again is just so harmful and stupid. For instance, trans (though there are more) : it means that women's basic human rights are sacrificed at the altar of trans nonsense. And what would trans people lose if not everything was about trans, trans, trans? Nothing! Under a ''progressive'' or ''liberal'' leadership (however you want to call it) they'd be fine! They just wouldn't be allowed to stomp all over women's accomplishments, dignity and safety at every opportunity.

In their fight against populism they've completely lost touch with the working class. Here in Europe it's much the same, and by this point, deliberately losing elections is causing massive issues. These are the people that argue that men like Imane Khelif are completely normal, XX women, who just made sure that they ate enough protein. It makes them look like dishonest fools who're humiliating and lowering themselves by speaking obvious untruths. They come across as cultists. Who wants to vote for that?

Unfortunately, the elected Dems are surrounded by gender id true believers or people who are so cowed by the GI crowd that they can't withstand the very real personal cost it takes to say "this is not gay marriage - there are competing rights here". Even things as innocuous as Seth Moulton saying "hey, it's not fair to force girls to compete against boys" is translated as "I want all trans people to die". Don't really see a way out, unfortunately. Allowing the GOP to own the "women and girls have rights too" side is such a disaster and will keep on hurting Dems for years to come. Only option is the next wave of candidates saying we are not going to give the GOP ammo to use in ads and social media by making these performative votes, statements, etc. They'll get pilloried by the activists and their own staff (as Moulton did), but "the only way out is through."
