I believe kids should have male role models in their lives. I don't know how to reconcile that with making sure kids are kept safe in childcare. Actually, I do - strict vetting and supervision that unfortunately would cost a lot and be seen as discriminatory. Therefore, it won't happen. Also, these jobs would have to pay enough to keep non-trash men out, because most men don't seem to want to care for their own kids, never mind anyone else's. That kind of pay also won't happen, because everyone would have to be paid well, not just the men.

We will know when a government and culture truly values children and childrearing when childcare work is considered worthy of good pay, enough to make a decent living instead of scraping by. Until then, it's all talk.

I say let the men raise the boys and women take the girls. That way there isn’t any “discrimination,” and girls get to enjoy safety from male predation.

I kinda reel at the words "male role model" - it usually seems done to justify keeping women objectified and belittled, and treating it like a massive crisis when there aren't enough men around who'll actually be taken seriously and get real work done, instead of changing boys' attitudes towards women.

I'm not sure if better pay would do anything. Working with kids seem to be something you have to have a knack for. Then again one might say the same thing about customer service or sth - it doesn't need to demand talent and can be treated mainly as a job. Still, childcare demands a lot of patience, understanding and getting something out of being able to prioritise and help another vulnerable person not from the role of an action hero or a superstar but as a caretaker. It's not glorious enough for men. They are frustrated by the lack of attention and hard authority that they can use to throw their weight around, especially over their inferiors.

Men as a class are also too absorbed in their fetishistic abusive porn as well as general hierarchical tendencies that compel them to abuse others. They can't even be trusted around other adults and even "normal" men aren't particularly subtle about their interest in and exploitation of girls, so until that changes, I don't see why we should all act like they're harmless babies. #NotAll___ only works if these things are genuine exceptions rather than a result of the system working as intended. At that point the focus should be on the system itself instead of gaslighting everyone about it because "generalising" and "discrimination".
