TLDR: There is an (un)intentional imperialist agenda when feminists in the Global North criticize mysoginistic practices in the Global South such as hijab, e.g., when documentation of the genocide of Palestinians became widespread news, many "radfems" advocated for it since "hijab = oppression, therefore good riddance".

Claiming to "hate both things" ignores the geopolitical fact of how the West dehumanizes Islam to justify interventions in the Middle East, moreover how the West influenced hijab becoming mandatory in the first place by militarizing groups for regime changes to get control over the region (case in point, Afghanistan before/after USA interventions).

Hence, an efficient strategy for women's liberation globally would have those from the Global North focused on providing tools of resistance (achieve a ceasefire in the Global South, transfer money, teach skills useful for warfare) and those from the Global South focused on militarization (formation of armed separatist communities, martial arts training, learn cybersecurity/weaponry handling).

Discussion questions include
  • taking into account the Global North/South perspective, what actions do you envision for both groups of women to build an efficient liberation strategy?
  • coming from the Global South, what tools of resistance do you think are the most important to achieve liberation from oppressive regimes?
  • coming from the Global North, which tools of resistance would you be up for/against providing?

The Global North excels in justifying atrocities (genocide of indigenous people, violent regime changes, economic isolation/sabotage, etc.) by dehumanizing the Global South.

What was everywhere in media when the genocide in Palestine became news globally? "Hamas is doing mass rapes... Hamas is decapitating babies... Hamas is using human shields"

All of these claims that --to the surprise of no one in the Global South-- later were true not for Hamas but for the IDF. Yet at the time you would see it everywhere in media, and in "radfem" spaces you would even hear that "the feminist stance is to support Israel".

Not only that but considering geopolitics, it is at best ignorant at worst hypocritical when feminists from the Global North criticize hijab.

How did it become mandatory in the first place? What happened, for example, in Afghanistan for these mysoginistic practices to be so strong? Land based communities (especially those influenced by communism) tend to be more egalitarian, and that was the case of Afghanistan, so what happened?

The USA militarized groups for a regime change, extremist religious groups at that. Long story short, they created the "villain" then pointed fingers at it from afar to justify even more interventions ---the perfect modus operandi to prevent economic democracy and multipolarity.

As of today I am yet to see any campaigns from women in the Global North that provide tools of resistance for women in Afghanistan. The same can be said about any other country in the Global South affected by Western interventions.

To the women in the Global North: are you doing anything to stop your government's interventions in the Global South? In the Middle East? Otherwise any criticism of hijab feels empty --especially given how loud and aligned with zionism the "radfem" voices in the Global North are-- and (un)intentionally falls into this modus operandi of the USA/West. To illustrate this further, strategies to fight surrogacy that do not address the geopolical factors at play in this "industry" will never be efficient --hence the strategies coming from the Global North being just for show.

To the women in the Global South: do not expect the West to aid in your liberation from oppressive regimes --these are the product of Western interventions in the first place. Demonstrations directed to them (UN, etc.) are meaningless since they see your land as resources for the stock market. Militarization is key to get back your rights

Disclaimer: my intent with this post is to discuss the following:

  • taking into account the Global North/South perspective, what actions do you envision for both groups of women to build an efficient liberation strategy?
  • coming from the Global South, what tools of resistance do you think are the most important to achieve liberation from oppressive regimes/failed States?
  • coming from the Global North, which tools of resistance would you be up for/against providing?
Any questions building upon the Global North/South perspective to develop an efficient strategy for women's liberation wordwide are welcome. What is written here is the product of conversations I have had with women from Germany, Russia, Turkey, Mexico and Nicaragua. The topic was interesting, and I am hoping to find further inspiration here.

Finally, comments questioning the existence of Global North/South or the genocide of Palestinians will be deemed off-topic and ignored.

Wow, and Vexxed redacted this whole post?

The most basic level of human need is food and water. For pregnant women, prenatals and baby formula and diapers. For all women, pads.

Not surprised Vexxed censored it. I was hoping it would differ from Ovarit, with a new set of people running it, but they haven't even bothered to put up basic rules. You have the same problematic Zionist users who have made it their new home, including one who espoused racist views on Ovarit and never got banned for it. I can't tell if the admins are too busy trying to keep the site going in its first few months or are just cover Zionists themselves, but I'm really starting to think it's the latter.

A Zionist posted about how kids were singing peace songs in Hebrew at some event and “many Muslim parents/grandparents” joined in and how special said event was to her..

I asked if she’d feel the same vibe if said song had been sung in Arabic. I pointed out that the path to peace does not necessarily intersect with human rights.

They do work fast on deleting things.

OP, your question as to what women in the Global South want vs the North is very complicated. Just as one example, take the question of hijab and niqab. Part of the function of wearing both in Europe is so men from your culture don’t see you as a target. Part of the function is religious faith. Part cultural exceptionalism.
