Kirk thoughts
Kirk thoughts
First of all, he was murdered. Assassination is when public officials are murdered. Kirk was not in a public official position he was just an influencer of the public.
Second, I think Tyler may be the patsy of the boyfriend.
When I read this - it was not as a "loving/protective" exchange
it was about taking the fall and denial of participation of the boyfriend who is trans identified
I suspect it was the boyfriend who had the plot and the shooter was just following orders
after all, it is only the trans person who matters in trans world, and everyone else is just supposed to care take and cater to them

I don't think it was the boyfriend, tbh. I think the shooter was a heavily closeted gay guy brought up in a MAGA Mormon family realizing that the chances of him coming out to his family and having them ever accept him given his sexuality were close to zero. Kirk (one of the most prominent conservatives in the country and well-known for his homophobia) became the locus of the shooter's anger because of this.
I do think this was a relatively spontaneous crime as these things go. No manifesto. No note (although he tried to write one and tore it up apparently). No evidence of extensive planning. No evidence that he planned to kill himself after the crime. I don't think he was a groyper, but obviously had some exposure given his immersion in gamer culture and the memes on the bullets.
I could be wrong, but when I read the supposed texts after the shooting to the trans identified boyfriend, the texts seemed not genuine and overly concerned to deny that boyfriend's involvement. given how self centred and controlling trans is, it just made more sense to me. We will see how this plays out it is weird law enforcement is releasing so much information and tainting the jury pool
'No evidence' found yet of ties between Charlie Kirk's shooting and left-wing groups, officials say https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/justice-department/no-evidence-charlie-kirk-shooting-left-wing-groups-rcna232513
Starting to wonder how much of this might have been rebellion against/anger toward his family, with Charlie Kirk being a representative of their thoughts, instead of him being radicalized into left-wing extremism in general. What if who he really wanted to shoot was his father or his whole family, but he didn't have it in him to do that, so he picked someone who he knew they liked or who said the same things.
Alternately, he could have really disliked Kirk without being a left-wing extremist, despite the right's best effort to paint anyone who dislikes Kirk's viewpoints as extremist and dangerous.

This is as straightforward as it gets. Gay guy kills dickwad xenophobe Charlie Kook, in his own words because he (Kirk) is a xenophobic hater and brands him a fascist with the bullet casings that were definitely "not" funny or clever in any way. It's an open and shut case and frankly I feel nothing about it all except the irritation that the shooting has so quickly unleashed an asinine wave of right wing wokeness (aggressive censorship of "hate speech" and "disinformation" that's directed against favored demographics being what I mean by that in this case) that threatens to affect my presence elsewhere on the social medias. Just when you thought things were opening up more, BAM!, here we are all over again with what's probably destined to be a whole second generation of this bullshit, but just now in an even dumber packaging than the last time, UUUUGH!!! And none of these fucktards even notice the irony in that, like in lionizing Kirk as this great free speech champion on the one hand while simultaneously weaponizing his death to silence all their critics on the other. It just shows who they really believe in free speech for.
If this is supposed to be the new generation's 9/11, it's the dumbest variation ever. Kirk was just some asswipe podcast moid who helped Trump get elected our tinpot dictator and the culture is making him out to be a saint. My favorite aspect of it all is those creepy-ass pictures circulating on social media depicting Kirk in heaven with Jesus (wherein, y'know, even decked out in heavenly white garb and situated amongst the clouds, he still looks like kind of a jerk). I've never been so glad to be going to hell!
Sorry if I seem callous, but I find it tough to empathize with someone who dedicated his entire adult life to actively trying to reduce my rights and silence survivors of sexual predators (in the name of free speech no less). It's starting to feel like this is fucking North Korea and a member of the dear Kim dynasty has just passed away: like I'm at one of their casket tours, being battered and ordered to CRY LOUDER!!! Apparently it doesn't matter that he dedicated his entire life to hating people like me, I must nonetheless love him anyway. sighs Even in death, he's adding to my personal misery for shit sakes. No, I will not be honoring the newly-declared National Charlie Kirk Remembrance Day next month.
@ImpressPollly couldn't have said it better myself. and "Charlie Kook" how have I not seen that before? Am I a ghoul for laughing at that? Yeah, probably. He didn't deserve to be shot and killed, but the world wasn't a better place with him in it and I can't pretend I'm sorry he's gone, other than the sheer stupidity of the aftermath.
Speaking of the aftermath, sexism exposed: On Twitter I've seen some right-wingers pushing the idea of Erika Kirk as a future president, only to have a legion of responses of "I still don't want a woman president." (If I can snag some links or screenshots, I'll add them.) It isn't even about a grieving widow not being qualification enough for the job, it's the whole woman president thing. Right-wingers gonna right-wing. I know it isn't just them, there are centrists and people further left who also don't want a woman president but won't come out and say it.
Nah, no one is callous for not mourning Kirk. He (OBVIOUSLY) did not deserve to be murdered for holding his opinions or expressing them. But they were shitty, bigoted, and misogynistic opinions and I'm not going to shed tears for someone who hated me and millions of others for being female and/or immigrants and/or not white.
