Well. I’ve been giving JKR a lot of leeway because of her fundamentally brave stance around gender. I’ve stuck with her as she’s said and done some things I think are questionable. But here she has lost me.

There is so much far-right propaganda over there that it is ridiculous. Ban foxnews, daily mail, and other sources of right-wing propaganda and ban users who continue to spread the propaganda. I would be happy to send you links to posts at vexxed that are spreading propaganda with links explaining why it is propaganda. I have a few days off and I feel like this would be a worthy cause so I am willing to do this if it would help highlight just how bad the situation is over there. I would love to feel welcome at vexxed, but I don't. Also maybe suspend up and down votes until the propaganda and sketchy behavior is under control.

An end to Fox News and Daily Mail links would be nice. But the dealbreaker for me is the extreme Zionism, Islamophobia, and immigrant-bashing which seem to be in the water over there, and which to say the least are not directly relevant to feminism. What made me decide to leave was the poll about “sensitive subjects” which were supposedly banned on Ovarit, where everybody else said there should be no limits except on calling certain attitudes fascist or Nazi or far-right because it hurts their feelings.

Vexxed is mostly there to discuss gender critical/anti trans just as the original r/gc was. By 2015 with “hands across the aisle” it was clear that the only ones who would lend legal, political and press clout were conservative.

If you banned conservative sources there wouldn’t be anyone to link to when discussing develop,ents.

I had to roll my eyes when I saw that thread, and when it predictably was closed. Pleasantly surprised the top comment is a reasonable one, though. Now the mods have made a thread declaring you can't discuss the user base or down votes. Pure speculation, but I wonder if this is being addressed now due to the interactions in the Charlie Kirk threads and the schism it exposed. It wasn't the first, but it was an obvious one. The anniversary of Oct. 7th attack is tomorrow, too, so maybe they're trying to get the jump on everyone.

"Islamophobia" (a fundamentally meaningless concept because being against a regressive religion isn't prejudice) and bashing of immigrants who bring in extreme forms of violence against women that are normalised in their home countries is relevant to women's rights, though in most cases the women complaining about it are trying to pin misogyny onto those foreign brown men so their white Nigels can get off the hook for it.

A lot of immigrant sex harassment is coming from males who aren’t even Muslim. These Sikhs, these Hindus and these Africans that practice a blend of religion also leave hijabi and niquabi alone because they assume there’s a large set of male cousins with knives coming for them if they don’t. It probably IS safer to wear a headscarf in certain parts of London and Paris as a protective measure if you have to be alone. But that just marks you as scum by kjk clearly

Sure, if you'd like to compile a post with links to the propaganda you've seen there, I'd love to read through it. Right now, we're all recognizing there's a culture issue and trying to figure out a solution. If I had better answers, I would share them, but honestly that's where we are right now.

Immigrants may come from societies that are structured differently from the UK or US but that does not make their cultures inherently misogynistic. Same with Muslims—any blanket statement about “Muslims” can just as easily apply to “Christians” or other religious groups. Misogyny is universal and focusing your opposition on immigrant men and Muslims is right-wing, not feminist.

I'm genuinely surprised to hear that most of the mods don't condone it considering there's definitely a bias towards the right leaning women there. There have been a number of rule breaking posts and comments from the right leaning women that never get deleted, but as soon as the left wing women start calling them out, the posts get locked. There was at least one post in the last week that was clearly attacking left wing women, but, as always, the right leaning woman got a pass for.... some reason. Her post should have been deleted and I know for a fact that if a left wing woman posted something similar, it would have absolutely been deleted.

This isn't necessarily directed at you, I don't think you'd be here if you were right leaning, but I am finding it hard to believe that a number of the mods/admins there aren't teetering into right wing territory.
