Quote:They also mentioned the general-ish consensus was that they didn't want to entertain a conservative women's circle, because they felt it'd make the conservative appearance of Vexxed worse or something.

lmaooo that ship has already sailed long ago

Quote:And I mean, yeah, if they keep doing the "gradually create circles" thing, and they choose a right-wing circle as one of their first circles... yeah that's not gonna be a good look. But if they just allow women to go make their own communities as they want, it is mostly out of their hands, besides enforcing site-wide rules. Well, it's their website, they can run it how they best see fit.

What are the chances that a conservative-leaning website is going to make circles for all the underrepresented libfem women or even the progressive women who have already picked up their bags, instead of just making more conservative circles? And if they do make these circles, what are the chances that the conservative userbase isn't going to spend most of the time arguing, concern trolling and sealioning any libfems that try to join? And what are the chances that the mods are not going to censor all this and warn or ban libfems for having offensive controversial takes because women aren't smiling and being 😁NiCe😁 enough?

Again, the damage has already been done. There would need to be heavy cleanup first if you wanted to turn it into something other than a conservative echo chamber, and given how prevalent that is, it's doubtful there'd be anything left even if the mods wanted to severely cut down on their userbase (which they don't - they've shown they see no problem in getting more stupid conservative users as long as it gets their numbers up), esp since Vexxed seems to have just picked up the worst of the worst off of Ovarit.

The fact is simply that there's no way to make an "all women" Vexxed work because it was never meant to be for all women, and the mods patently don't care to make it as such, but also really can't at this point.

Wonder why this was locked. Doesn't seem to have broken rules, imo, unless the mods think exposing misogyny is sexist somehow.

It might be in the process of being moved to the "SexismExposed" circle. Iirc, when a post is trying to be moved, it is locked until the other circle's mods accept it. (Might be a good idea for them to add a note about this, if I'm correct, something like "this post is in the process of being moved to the /o/XYZ circle" to help explain why it's "locked.")

Normally the little note under the post does specify that the post is locked because it's in the process of being moved, so either a mod made a simple mistake or it is locked for a different reason.

Honestly, the bureaucracy of moving shit there is like the dmv.

One thing that especially incenses me is the handwringing about conditions in Afghanistan or Sudan or whatever non Gaza area they’re deflecting criticism toward. It’s not like women’s rights have advanced in any way by having the us wage war on them. And it’s not like Westerners exactly want more niquabis immigrating here. The cute little flyers contests urging white western women to mentor teenage girls in English is atrociously dangerous to said girls.Ā

My guess is that the taliban are already transitioning to where certain ā€œauntsā€ are in charge of childbirth and maintaining order, like the handmaid’s tale, and the twist behind the handmaid’s tale is that Lydia worked within the system to keep girls alive. It’s not something that us feminists can easily fundraise for, even if they wanted to.

First time that I click on a Vexxed link and the first comment is from pennygadget. The woman is a hardcore Zionist and spent every waking minute on Ovarit, I wonder if it's her job.

I can’t directly respond to the last poster, but it is u deniable that some of the most public gc ā€œterfsā€ are hardcore Zionists insisting that if you have a problem with the genocide, you’re a tra.

Yes, this is exactly why it was locked. And that's a great idea to add a note about threads being locked while theyre being moved. I'll mention it to admin.

I hate myself slightly for silently following the changes on Vexxed, upvoting and downvoting freely then commenting over here. So far I have felt this is my only option given the right-wing groupthink there. It looks like BlackCirce* is making some changes to prevent ā€œpoliticalā€ discussions on o/women. It is certainly pissing off the RW regulars but I don’t know that it will be enough. I want a forum where I can talk to women about feminism without having to worry that they’re secretly Zionist Trump voters. Hiding politics outside of anti-trans is not going to help.

I’ve said this before, and I still believe, that a ā€œfree speechā€ forum for ā€œall womenā€ is going to be a magnet for right-wing trolls. I’m not interested in letting them waste my time. I believe there are flesh-and-blood RW women there too and I’m not interested in them either. I have to deal with enough RW women in real life as it is. I know all about their ideas and don’t need to know any more.

* and maybe other mods. I really like BC but she does have her work cut out if she wants to turn the site around. I get the feeling she is confining her changes to the forum she admins and wish her well.
