Quote:Impatience is growing among volunteers and donors “about the cultural sclerosis” inside Democratic organizations, Yasmin Radjy, the executive director of the progressive group Swing Left, told me. “The question we hear over and over is, What are Democrats doing differently than in 2024 to make sure we win?”

So far, Democrats at higher levels haven’t been willing to commit to an agenda, as far as I can see. Simply being “not MAGA” and “against Trump” isn’t going to cut it. Democrats don’t have a save-the-country-cult and a cult leader to inspire them and fire them up like how Republicans have Trump and MAGA.

Obligatory ''not an American'', and I'm not particularly well-versed in American politics. But to me, this article feels very recognizable for what we call the left has on offer in a lot of places, including where I live. They're not-the-nazis and that's about it, at least that's how they're perceived. The Democrats are not Trump and that's about it. These frustrations were also palpable during the last US election.

I see the left where I live shrinking smaller and smaller while the (far) right continues to grow. The left has a huge image problem, their image is part lacking, part unattractive, part murdered by media and ignorant people. It's very frustrating to watch because I wish they grew more realistic and pragmatic.

I seriously hope the Democrats get their act together and find a really good candidate. They need ideology imo. They seem a bit shapeless, wishy-washy, don't really stand for much. Affordability, as mentioned, reminds me of economic policy and that's whatever, but the USA is a country in turmoil and distress and it needs a lot more than just ''affordability''. Decades of neoliberal decay need to be undone or compensated for, I see it as a country that desperately needs hope, something to build towards, something other than destruction or at least ''a good economy''. Health insurance outright cuts people loose after which they can just die. I think I lack a sense of urgency with the Dems, from what I can see from here.

But the far right and all that does its PR game very good. I read the complaint in 2024 that the Democrats basically treat women, PoC and other groups as token voters, assuming that of course! they'll vote Dem. That isn't helping them and they need to put a lot more effort into actually giving good answers.
