A redditor posted a tweet of conservative woman pointing out why she is against anal sex in r/NotHowGirlsWork. https://reddit.com/r/NotHowGirlsWork/comments/1hdd9hw/not_how_anyone_works/

Some of the comments are actually pretty decent, and point out how dismissing anal sex as if it's completely harmless is the more actual "r/NotHowGirlsWork" take.

Mumique Okay, she's crazy but the science shows she has a point. Women's bodies don't fare as well https://amp.theguardian.com/society/2022/aug/11/rise-in-popularity-of-anal-sex-has-led-to-health-problems-for-women

It would be nice if we talked about this openly and in a sex positive, no judgement way but šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø
Swimwithamermaid Yeah I remember watching the Sasha Grey interview on Tyra Banks about it. She mentioned that a lot of performers end up wearing diapers and some have even had surgery to try to fix the damage that they incurred.

my_name_is_not_robin Iā€™m sure sheā€™s a nut but women literally **are** at greater risk of permanent health complications from anal sex (including fecal incontinence). Theyā€™re also more at risk of STD transmission with anal as compared to vaginal sex.

I would encourage everyone here to do some proper research on the topic so theyā€™re able to make informed and safe choices.

Kind of a terrible post tbh
mdanyelle Iā€™m in the oncology field and the truth that people donā€™t want to hear is anal cancer is linked to anal sex. Iā€™m not going to shame anybody for what they want to do in the bedroom but I also believe people should be aware of all the risks.

SeenInTheAirport I am going to be the odd one here but there are lot of young woman presenting to oncology centers with Anal Cancer. Only thing in common is that practice. Do what you want with your body but it does not change what can possibly be the outcome.

Undergoing chemotherapy and radiation for months isn't worth it.

Edit: I should mention that I am a physician. To give what I'm saying more validity.

Gun_Fucker2000 Donā€™t be so ignorant enough to ignore the health risks of anal, specifically the ones that women are more prone to get. Our bodies were not designed to have the hole where waste comes out of to be penetrated by anything. Health risks include: A bunch of STDS, infections, fecal incontinence, weakened muscles, an increased risk of anal cancer, and anal injuries and fissures. If you believe itā€™s worth it, whatever- itā€™s a personal choice. But it is so wrong to make posts like this basically denying that anal has health risks.

hunty_griffith Yall need to stop being Anal pick mes. A broken clock is right two times a day. Anal is damaging and deeply harmful to women.

I would post links but I think someone else hasĀ  shared some data above.
_PinkPeony_ Exactly, women literally have a vagina that self-lubricates for the purpose of intercourse. Men experience extreme pleasure analy due to their prostate gland being stimulated analy.

Men push anal sex on women because they've been programmed to from pron, they get off on hurting women, they get off on making women do something they don't want to do, humiliating women, dominating women, revenge against women.

>Rise in popularity of anal sex has led to health problems for women.

>Incontinence, bleeding and STIs among consequences, say two surgeons, who want doctors to raise the topic with patients

>Women in the UK are suffering injuries and other health problems as a result of the growing popularity of anal sex among straight couples, two NHS surgeons have warned.

>The consequences include incontinence and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) as well as pain and bleeding because they have experienced bodily trauma while engaging in the practice, the doctors write in an article in the British Medical Journal.

>Tabitha Gana and Lesley Hunt also argued that doctorsā€™ reluctance to discuss the risks associated with anal sex was leading to women being harmed by the practice and letting down a generation of women who are not aware of the potential problems.

>In the journal, they said ā€œanal intercourse is considered a risky sexual behaviour because of its association with alcohol, drug use and multiple sex partnersā€.

>However, ā€œwithin popular culture it has moved from the world of pornography to mainstream mediaā€ and TV shows including Sex and the City and Fleabag may have contributed to the trend by making it seem ā€œracy and daringā€.

>Women who engage in anal sex are at greater risk from it than men. ā€œIncreased rates of faecal incontinence and anal sphincter injury have been reported in women who have anal intercourse,ā€ the report said.

>ā€œWomen are at a higher risk of incontinence than men because of their different anatomy and the effects of hormones, pregnancy and childbirth on the pelvic floor.

>ā€œWomen have less robust anal sphincters and lower anal canal pressures than men, and damage caused by anal penetration is therefore more consequential.

>ā€œThe pain and bleeding women report after anal sex is indicative of trauma, and risks may be increased if anal sex is coerced,ā€ they said.

>National Survey of Sexual Attitudes research undertaken in Britain has found that the proportion of 16- to 24-year-olds engaging in heterosexual anal intercourse has risen from 12.5% to 28.5% over recent decades. Similarly, in the US 30% to 45% of both sexes have experienced it.

I hate the normalization of anal, like it's an ordinary expected part of sex. It isn't and shouldn't be, and not for "prudish" reasons. All sex has risks, but some sexual practices are riskier than others. Honestly, there's no sex worth ass cancer or throat cancer.

And it's mostly thanks to porn that it's so normalized. :/ I mean, call me a prude but I just don't get it. Probably hurts while causing anal prolapse and rectal tears? What could be sexier? šŸ™„ (No doubt for some men the pain and suffering is the point, too.)

Yep, porn and misogyny (which, porn is misogyny).

Gail Dines, Pornland: How Porn Has Hijacked Our Sexuality The desire to see women utterly degraded and powerless explains in part why anal sex has become so popular in porn. In the real world this act is becoming more common, but I doubt that many women are seeking out the type of anal sex that the pornographers depict. What generally makes anal sex so appealing in porn is the potential pain and harm that robotic and mechanistic thrusting can cause women. One porn executive explains why users like anal: ā€œEssentially it comes from [every man] whoā€™s unhappily married, and he looked at his wife who just nagged at him about this or that or whatnot, and he says, ā€˜Iā€™d like to fuck you in the ass.ā€™ Heā€™s angry at her, right? And he canā€™t, so he would rather watch some girl taking it up the ass and fantasize at that point heā€™s doing whatever girl happened to be mean to him that particular day.ā€ Similarly, one producer at the Expo told me that he was specializing in anal-themed movies because ā€œmen like to see just how far the women will go with the cocks up her ass. I like to see them pushed to the edge, so I make films I like to watch.ā€
