I opened a discussion on vexxed about how a sovereign Palestinian State would benefit women and girls. I kept it short in case it gets deleted: https://vexxed.org/o/Women/3446/unpopular-opinion-palestinian-women-and-girls-deserve-a-sovereign-state

I didn't address the elephant in the room on purpose also to prevent it from being deleted.

In my short experience on the website, I have gotten comments/posts deleted, and my user's score---whatever that means---is on the way to -50. Maybe I can even reach -100, I'm feeling confident.

That being said, I'm very tempted to do a social biases characterization study based on text data from vexxed.

Left a couple of replies to other people's comments, including one sort of rant response to pennygadget because I'm sick of hearing the "why doesnt hamas just return the hostages lulz" horseshit

Hope it doesn't get deleted! The Zionists can make their own whole ass posts using feigned criticism of Hamas or Islam to be racist against Arabs but god forbid I point out Israel's war crimes.

Just want to say thanks to everyone going to the effort to post the truth over there. You'll be downvoted because Zionists and hasbarists can't handle it, but please know people are reading what you post and the facts about the occupation and genocide are sinking in.

One of the biggest red flags for me is that, as NPR reported in April, “Israel hasn't allowed outside journalists independent access to Gaza since it launched its war”:

NPR, All Things Considered CLAYTON WEIMERS: It's pretty unprecedented for an entire territory to be blocked off for such a sustained period of time.

LONSDORF: Clayton Weimers is the U.S. executive director of Reporters Without Borders, a nonprofit that promotes freedom of the press and one of many international organizations and media outlets, including NPR, that has been calling on Israel to allow journalists into Gaza since the war began in October of 2023. Throughout the war, Israel has allowed a select few in on highly controlled short embeds with the military. But it has continuously said that the situation on the ground is too dangerous for independent access, a call that Weimer says isn't one for Israel to make.

WEIMERS: Frankly, it's not up to the Israeli government to decide what risks journalists are willing to undertake. A free press gets to make that decision.

JODIE GINSBERG: As a democracy, as a country that has talked repeatedly about its defense of a free press, the actions that Israel are taking are anything but.

LONSDORF: Jodie Ginsberg, CEO of the Committee to Protect Journalists, says it's not just access or lack thereof that's the problem.

GINSBERG: This is a conflict for journalists that is like no other currently underway in the world.

LONSDORF: CPJ has documented more than 170 journalists killed in Gaza since the beginning of the war, making it the deadliest conflict for reporters since the organization began gathering data in 1992. Israel has repeatedly denied any deliberate targeting of journalists, saying it targets Hamas. And as Ginsberg points out, war correspondents under such risks and strain traditionally operate on rotations.

GINSBERG: Gazan journalists not only have had no one else coming in to relieve them, they cannot leave.

LONSDORF: The Foreign Press Association in Israel, of which NPR is a member, has repeatedly appealed to the Israeli government, filing not one but two petitions to Israel's Supreme Court. The first was rejected in January of 2024, citing security concerns. The second was filed in July of last year. It has stalled for months, as the court has allowed the state six different extensions for its response.

Media watchers both in Israel and internationally have warned that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government are seeking to undermine free press in the country, especially in regards to the war in Gaza, not just by limiting access but also silencing outlets within Israel that have been critical of the war. In recent months, the Israeli government has forcefully closed the offices of Al Jazeera in the occupied West Bank, banning it from the air in Israel, and also imposed economic sanctions on Haaretz, a popular Israeli newspaper that has reported on the plight of Palestinians in Gaza. NPR reached out to Netanyahu's office several times for the story. We received no response.

OREN PERSICO: He sees any critical press as unfair. A honest press in the eyes of Netanyahu is a political tool to advance his position.

And as Wrongtoy has mentioned in the past, the blocking of humanitarian aid shipments to Gaza, including supplies for babies such as formula and diapers, is extremely unethical and inhumane. I remember there were some claims from pro-Israel people that "Hamas is just hoarding/controlling them" to justify the humanitarian aid blockades, which is ridiculous, considering how many food aid shipments nations have given to North Korea in times of famine, even though many claimed the shipments just benefit the North Korean ruling family and their high-ranking officers.

What angers me the most is this bullshit narrative that collective punishment of every Palestinian is justified because "they elected Hamas". The majority of Palestinians, both in Gaza, and outside of it, could not have supported Hamas in the 2006 election because they weren't alive in 2006 and weren't able to vote.

I keep seeing things about Israel actually having refused offers to return the hostages, and that was an eye opener for me. Maybe the offers weren't legit, maybe it required something in return that was asking too much, but I don't know if that's the case. The events of October 7, 2023 were awful and I'll never defend or justify what Hamas did, but I think Israel has more than paid it back, and it mostly isn't Hamas who paid the price, it's Palestinian citizens.

Hi everyone,

I want to thank all of you who engaged, and generally help in the fight against the Western disinformation campaign that justifies the genocide of Palestinians.

I am happy to announce that I am on the way to a user score of -200. Do you think this could be used as a reason to get me banned from the platform? I was thinking about creating and sharing a Discord at some point, so maybe I should hurry. Who knows if/when I will be banned.

If you have any ideas for the Discord, please let me know. Once again I am thankful I got to be in this space where I can brainstorm ideas with other women.
