The National Organization for Women will have its annual hybrid conference in early July. It is the largest women's grassroots organization in the USA.

They are voting for their next President/VP (there are also by-laws and resolutions to be voted on).
In order to vote (you can vote remotely), you need to be a paid member by April 12th. Please Join NOW. Move the largest grassroots women's organization in the USA in the proper trans-critical and radical feminist direction. There are some trans-critical candidates running. Won't say who (not current president/vp).
register to conference. It is hybrid and non-members can watch.

edit: It is important to know currently NOW is pro trans. However there is dissension amongst members and there are more people joining to change the direction.
Being out as anti/critical of Trans is a little controversial, so expect more dog whistles to signal the change for the next potential President/VP.

I respect that you’re doing this, but to me this is like giving money to GLAAD or the National Lesbians who are about as tim infested. Same with Planned Parenthood.

Hey I'm a NOW member and it's not TIM infested. There was one out of hundreds at the last conference. Most TIMs don't want to hang out with a crowd of older feminists (I'd say half are 40+). Support for TIMs from the leadership is mostly performative.

There are several GC feminists & radfems within the organization. They keep their views on controversial issues hush hush but they're definitely there. It's an essential group for feminists to connect and organize.

Even if they're not RF, a lot of those ladies do not buy the trans BS. At the last conference, a proposed rule for mandatory trans representation on the Board was vetoed by 80%. There was also a resolution against dehumanizing language ("people with uteruses" etc) which would've passed, if not for the current president shooting it down. She's also quite authoritarian in general so needs to be replaced.

We want to center women again and you (general you, not you specifically) can help achieve this.

Thanks so much for the context, Berry, that's awesome.

Given the backlash against women’s rights, we need a large women’s organization to press for our rights. And the refusal to seat a TIM on the board was a good first step. I bet this year NOW can pass the resolution against dehumanizing language.

I'm shocked there isn't a chapter in my local (liberal) area.

But then again, the trans stuff might have pushed it out (women are so passe 😒😒😒)

Just joined - thank you for your testimonies, otherwise I wouldn’t have done it.

The LGBTQIA+ page was rough to look through - virtually no mention of lesbians, which is especially rich given NOW’s infamous treatment of lesbians in the 60s 🤪 Guess I’ll wear my lavender menace t-shirt at my first local chapter meeting, and “be the change” or whatever

We NEED your voice at the national convention in July. Please consider attending virtually. The main reason there are few local chapters is that national stopped encouraging them. Feminist women built the organization and feminist women can change it. I think you will see more and more support of lesbians from the grassroots membership. But we need votes to make changes.

Why do you think they are discouraging local chapters??
