News White House orders NIH to research trans 'regret' and 'detransition'

Specifically, the White House wants the NIH to study "regret" and "detransition" among children and adults who have transitioned.

"But they are left with these permanent effects."
She adds: "There are a lot of negative impacts of transition. And regret is definitely one of them," she says. "It's a very important area of medicine to study."

Exactly this. Under a different administration, I'd be happy that this study was being done. But under the current administration, it'll be used to push misinformation, disinformation, and fascistic levels of punishment, as well as locking people further back into gender stereotypes.

Exactly this. Under a different administration, I'd be happy that this study was being done. But under the current administration, it'll be used to push misinformation, disinformation, and fascistic levels of punishment, as well as locking people further back into gender stereotypes.

Something like the Cass review was a breath of fresh air and I know there is no way to have a study that trans people will accept if it doesn't align with the idea that a penis magically changes structure just by being called different, but I don't expect anything of value from Trump's minions. I'm even expecting to see more studies finding an evolutionary link between being female and wearing high heel or some shit like that, and it being used to prove that TIFs shouldn't transition or that men shouldn't wear them.

I’m hopeful that, since Trump and his minions won’t actually be designing or conducting the research they have requested be done, the scientists responsible will be allowed to carry out a methodologically sound study without the watchful eyes of Big Non-Binary Sibling burning a hole through their chests.
