I can't believe more people aren't scared by this stuff. The absolute cultiness and the increasing alignment with the incoming ruling party of the U.S.

But they know what a woman is, so I guess it's all ok. :catcry:

These people are terrifying. When religion is in the mix everything becomes unpredictable because they don't think or behave logically. Like even the shittiest "normal" Republican won't fire a nuke because global nuclear holocaust is bad for business and likely to get them killed as well, but these people might if they believe a nuclear holocaust will trigger the second coming of Christ or something.

Elsacat But they know what a woman is, so I guess it's all ok.
Hey but at least they're not woke!!!1!!1 I watch Fox News so I know for a FACT that Islamic terrorism is the most pressing issue facing America today, pls ignore all the Christian militias stockpiling weapons and running military drills. They're just, uh, protecting free speech and stuff.

I'm too tired to read the The Atlantic article tonight, but is this "Army of God" similar to "Christian fundamentalists", the group of insane Christian people who believe in weird shit like the Rapture and the 2nd coming and actually try to encourage a war in the Middle East (something to do with Israel) in order to trigger the Rapture? And these people have been and are actually part of the federal government trying to get this to happen?? There are apparently literally people in the federal government who actually believe this insane shit. And there are plently more people who believe in this insane shit who vote.

I wonder if we should have a board that's like Misogyny Watch or something that keeps track of all the horrible sexist groups and organizations out there, like The Heritage Foundation and this Army of God?

Yeah with religion not only is there this cult-like obsession with the End Times (which gets lobbed about for anything from low birth rates to nuclear holocaust) but there's also the resentment and conflict with other Abrahamic religions that justifies all the wars in the Middle East. The Christian-Muslim mudslinging is especially bad and also ropes people into a false dichotomy and sense of defensiveness between the two religions. Even some atheists will claim to be "culturally Christian" for that reason.

Religion creates a sense of supernatural backing for anything an appealing religious authority can think of and has a tendency towards cults of personality. Even the shittiest non-religious people tend to just be looking out for their own interests in very direct, predictable ways, whereas religious people will easily fall for the next Messiah(-like) scammer and even go against their own safety and survival because they've been put in this weird God-Wrath survival mode.

lol I feel like making the non-Misogyny watch would make more sense at this point. Or do you mean like truly cult-like levels of misogyny that are even above your usual levels?

I'm so glad Republicans knew that only women with vaginas should have their bodily autonomy removed, really shows they have a good head on their shoulders.
