(Jun 25 2025, 8:46 PM)Wrongtoy Oh great now I’m getting downvoted over there for daring to say the hijab issue is, well, not the most imminent female priority. I do not understand the obsession with this overall whereas we see Sikh turbans and Chabad huge hats (they look Russian but I do t know the name) without any challenge or concern at all.

If I’m trapped in Gaza I’m prob wearing one of those even as a non Muslim considering I don’t have enough water or soap to wash it more than a month and its likely full of lice until I shave it off, at which point going around bald is not preferable. The bigger issue is that if I had an infant who survived, it would have been born starving or descending into starvation.

Some (not all) criticisms of hijab-ism is just a way for the critics to express Islamaphobic and deflect from the genocide being committed in Gaza. I think hijab and the non-voluntary imposition of "modest" dress is problematic regardless of which religion is being used fo impose it, but I think it's ridiculous to use this issue to deflect from the bigger crises happening right now. (It's similar to why I think abortion rights will always be more important than the trans issue for women - lack of access and restrictions on abortion will always kill and injure more women every year than trans-id'ed males ever will.)

I do want to thank you for continuing to fight the good fight on vexxed. I upvote you but I usually don't comment bc I find dealing with hasbarists and other people making excuses for genocide (as long as it's countries the West supports doing it) disgusting and depressing. It's like talking with MAGA cultists here in the U.S.. - they will never understand unless they personally are the ones getting bombed, starved, shot at, deported, etc.

War snd starvation cannot be excused because women customarily wear a piece of clothing where everyone is being starved or shot.   How about stopping shooting and starving them instead of putting forth this veil or scarf as the reason to shoot or starve them ie regime chsnge?

If anyone here would like an invite code to Vexxed btw, I'm happy to share! ❤ Would love for more actual feminist women from diverse backgrounds to join us there! I feel like that site has a lot of potential for so many great conversations, if only it were easier to spread the word and distribute invite codes to more women from here, the Radleft Unity discord, the r/fourthwavewomen subreddit, as well as the other feminist subreddits I know of.

My big concerned with vexxed if that right now it seems like a huge conservative propaganda machine. There are still some good people there fight the good fight, but how do you fight the propaganda when it is so overwhelming.

I tried to be there as a feminist but the right-wing propaganda got too overwhelming. I don’t care if I’m downvoted, but what was getting upvoted was just too depressing. I think Vexxed has gone the way of Saidit, hopelesssly turned over to the far right.

Even if downvotes don't bother you, you eventually get banned anyway for wrongthink and not being 😁NiCe😁 enough in face of misogyny.

I was never banned, but if I’d spoken my mind it probably was just a matter of time. The whole point of being on a GC site was not having to censor myself. Why would I want to stay on a site where I couldn’t speak freely, whether it meant being banned or getting dogpiled with dishonest talking points?

My big concerned with vexxed if that right now it seems like a huge conservative propaganda machine. There are still some good people there fight the good fight, but how do you fight the propaganda when it is so overwhelming.

I had the same concerns tbh. The reactions I've gotten on one recent post I made there, especially some of the dishonest arguments that some prominent site members have been making constantly to try to "debunk" my perspectives or comments, in reply to me anytime I post or comment anything that could signal to WOC or lesbian women or feminists from the Global South or any actual feminists that they're welcome on Vexxed, and how I always end up more downvoted by the conservatives, racists, and white-supremacists on the site more than upvoted by the actual feminists... tbh all of it has felt demoralizing but also kinda dehumanizing tbh.

I feel like if we want for anything to change on Vexxed, more of us would have to collectively focus more active concentrated effort on recruiting actual feminists en-masse to Vexxed and a bigger diversity of feminists from around the world, to outnumber the conservative white MAGA American racists lol. I've known way more actually religious Christian white women with more radfem-aligned beliefs than some of the racist white women on Vexxed who consider themselves as "feminists". I feel like maybe sharing more invite codes on Vexxed to women from actual radfem groups on discord, tumblr, reddit, and twitter could help, as well as especially any of the feminist women from cekni.to in some of those private circles (i heard that there's both a Lesbians circle and a circle for the members of the TheLezistance subreddit that had gotten taken down). And I remember that the lesbian women within the TheLezistance sub had a lot more diversity of WOC from around the world tbh. So starting with recruiting more women from lesbian spaces to drown out the conservative/rightwing sentiments on Vexxed was my first hope since the women on TheLezistance sub were all way more "radical feminist" and more feminist in general than the general vibes on Vexxed have been, despite many of the TheLezistance sub members being hesitant to be associated with radfems due to the impression that Vexxed/Ovarit gave off with the conservative white women in majority.

I think after bringing in more members from different online lesbian spaces, my earlier plan had been to share more invites to women on the LipstickAlley website, the Womad forum (for Korean women), and a private subreddit I know of that is for black women, as well as all the public subreddits I know of for Indian women, since a lot of them tend to be very radfem-aligned without them realizing it, from what I've noticed. A lot of the feminists I've seen who are from the Global South don't seem to really use the radical feminist label as often.

I've been thinking of just taking a bit of a break from Vexxed after today though lol. I'm questioning whether my efforts and energy spent on this would be worth it, if I can't invite in enough diverse members on my own at a fast enough pace, because the mass downvotes from the conservatives, racists, and homophobes tend to quickly burn out and disillusion a lot of the women I've tried to invite before I have a chance to invite enough others.

It just seems like it's something that I would need to try to coordinate with the Vexxed admins if they're openminded to it, i guess. I think I've shared some of my ideas about recruiting for Vexxed with a couple of the admins either before the sote was made and through mod mail sometime after, but since I wrote too much probably, i don't think they ended up having time to respond to the earlier ideas I had mentioned, even if they had read it. Idk if they might be open to me reaching out again to ask and share more about my ideas of how I wanted to help bring in more feminist site members, so I was gathering up the courage to eventually try reaching out soon, but idk tbh. I really don't want to be a bother or burden to them, especially if it turns out that they really don't want my help or if they'd rather not risk the site expanding too much or something or with the 'wrong' demographic of feminist women. So I've been deliberating on whether or not to continue on with trying to invite more feminists and other women who aren't conservatives to there in case it'd only lead to more WOC and lesbian women becoming disillusioned with the conservative vibes there. Some of the women on Vexxed are so kind and nice that I wanted to stick around to help make the site more welcoming for them, but I think i burnt myself out lol.
