If anyone here would like an invite code to Vexxed btw, I'm happy to share! ❤ Would love for more actual feminist women from diverse backgrounds to join us there! I feel like that site has a lot of potential for so many great conversations, if only it were easier to spread the word and distribute invite codes to more women from here, the Radleft Unity discord, the r/fourthwavewomen subreddit, as well as the other feminist subreddits I know of.

My big concerned with vexxed if that right now it seems like a huge conservative propaganda machine. There are still some good people there fight the good fight, but how do you fight the propaganda when it is so overwhelming.

I tried to be there as a feminist but the right-wing propaganda got too overwhelming. I don’t care if I’m downvoted, but what was getting upvoted was just too depressing. I think Vexxed has gone the way of Saidit, hopelesssly turned over to the far right.

I feel the same as you tbh. I really appreciate the efforts you made there on Vexxed/Ovarit! Seeing the sorts of hateful or antifeminist things that get upvoted there bothered me as much as the sorts of comments & posts that I saw were downvoted.

I imagine Vexxed is pulling the same shit as Ovarit was, in that it's pretending to be "feminist", but also claims it's "for all women". "All women" coincidentally only referring to conservative women and a rare quasi-feminist woman who makes sure to tiptoe around feminism enough so as not to get conservative women pissy. Libfem women apparently don't have a place in this space for "all women", even though they make up a huge number of women irl.

I'm not terribly active on here (I'm honestly a little intimidated by how smart all of you are), or on Vexxed (for the reasons discussed here already, and because I'm a little put off by the general mean-spiritedness), but I was more active on Ovarit. I will say that I did manage to change a major aspect of the culture there with a single post: I asked about the role of women with personality disorders in the feminist movement.

Prior to the post, people would be so disgustingly hostile towards anyone with personality disorders that some even outright called for their deaths. But after, I rarely saw that level of hatred, or conflating all people with personality disorders with sadists and abusers.

I'm saying this because I want you to remember that the principle behind all these spaces is that speaking up is powerful. Even a single comment could change things in a big way.

I wonder if we could coordinate here in order to make changes there. Rather than have a small trickle of new comers, each of whom gets turned off by the atmosphere of Vexxed, orchestrate a big wave of new comers so that they can all support each other and it will be harder for the conservatives to overwhelm them.

I feel as though Vexxed is, somehow, already worse than Ovarit ever was. I've been loathe to mention more articles I've found about Palestinian women's issues because I know that momofreyella (who has now rebranded herself as "zionistterf", as if there should be such a thing) would leave like three individual comments on one post expressing how much she hates Arabs and thinks that all of them are inherent terrorists.

I agree. I go back and forth on whether it's worth it to provide counterpoint there, or whether stop participating and leave it as right-wing women's space to speak without being stepped on by men.

Even if downvotes don't bother you, you eventually get banned anyway for wrongthink and not being 😁NiCe😁 enough in face of misogyny.

I was never banned, but if I’d spoken my mind it probably was just a matter of time. The whole point of being on a GC site was not having to censor myself. Why would I want to stay on a site where I couldn’t speak freely, whether it meant being banned or getting dogpiled with dishonest talking points?
PuhhhhhhhrrrRRREACH. I did actually get banned from Ovarit, but by the end it was just another place where I had to be very cognizant of what topics were off limits if I didn't want to have my hackles up because of a bunch of idiotic pseudo-intellectual hate comments: can't talk about disability, covid, and disease mitigation outside of specific covid-conscious spaces, can't talk about Marxism, anti-imperialism, or any geopolitical issues relating to Palestine, China, Iran, the DPRK, the entirety of Africa, outside of specific Marxist spaces, have to be very careful when talking about actual feminism outside of "GC" spaces, and even those have a glut of the bizarre combination of "males are inherently evil there is no hope for women" blackpillers and "the devil you know is better than the devil you don't" trads so it's very difficult to have an intelligent discussion about material ways to combat women's subjugation.

I live in a venn diagram with three circles that, at best, only intersect tangentially. I'm not going out of my way to be places where the ratio of hostility to earnest engagement is out of whack and unchecked (or event fomented) by the moderators.

I stopped using ovarit because of the "let all women speak" line letting in the racist, and classicist bullshit, not to mention the lesbophobia. The election season posts were unhinged, and countering them was exhausting, and a fool's errand.
There are a few Very Online Women who really run the conversations there, and most of them are right wing. I have real world experience with contemporary right wing women, and they won't leave their politics at home to work for all women.

How the hell are we ever going to be liberated when there are so many women actively working against women's liberation, some calling themselves "gender critical".

They were allowed to repeat propaganda all day long, and we got in trouble for being "rude" because I was frustrated with trying to discuss a couple of lies the poster would, then, refuse to reply or engage about.

I guess I won't use my invitation code to make an account. They aren't showing me that I am welcome, and that's too bad.

I just deleted my account a while ago. It wasn't worth it. I was hoping to shift things a little more left, but its just so tiring when every single tome you post or comment something, you just get dogpiled. Id provide good sources for all my arguments to counter the dis/misinformation (especially about immigration) just to be downvoted to hell and dog piled with replies spouting ridiculous, incorrect claims (of course, they never had any sources to provide, because what they were saying was downright bullshit). At a certain point, I realized I had no interest in being around a bunch of people who seem to actively hate people like me and my family.

And tbh, the feminist discussion sucks 90% of the time anyway. Half of them arent even GC, theyre just anti trans. Way too many users there seem to buy into actual bioessentialism. Ill just end my rant here or Ill go on forever.

orI said what I had to say there. https://vexxed.org/o/GenderCritical/5045/can-we-bridge-the-ideological-purity-gap-and-if-not-what-comes-next/921e0da3-3aac-4e6b-a21a-b16493e33ac4

I’m there mostly to talk gender critical. Everyone agrees on it in vexxed regardless of how they are identifying as a feminist or even if they are.
